Beautiful Doll Crib

This lovely vintage doll's crib has been given a HenHouse makeover. It has been painstakingly prepared and painted with a pretty pink eggshell paint and I have added some little vintage style rose transfers to each end.

The crib has a new calico covered mattress, a flannelette ditsy-flowered bottom sheet, gorgeous vintage linen top sheet which is embroidered with flowers and a bluebird, a vintage woollen satin-edged blanket which has been hand blanket stitched with perle cotton and a gorgeous patchwork quilt on top, made just like a full-size quilt with cotton batting and backing and hand-sewn pink polka dot binding. The finishing touch is a new pillow with a removable vintage embroidered, lace-edged pillow case. All the bedding can be washed (wool blanket on the appropriate setting).

This is a generously sized doll's crib with plenty of room for a whole family of teddies and dollies. It measures approximately 27" long, 17" tall and 11" wide. The crib gently rocks, sure to delight any special little girl or a lady who is young at heart.

The crib would need to be collected in the next few weeks. We can offer collection from South East London, the South Somerset/West Dorset area or somewhere in between along the M3/A303! There is also the chance of collection from North Yorkshire in the foreseeable future. This item is truly worth the trip, it is a complete unique one-off which will become a family heirloom to be treasured and passed on for years to come. I seldom have these cribs available and all my past customers have been so thrilled with their cribs, they look even more stunning in real life.

Raspberry and Apple Quilt

My latest quilt is simple in style, as the best quilts often are, and makes an impact with delightful fabrics from a popular designer range called "Tilda" in scrumptious shades of pinky-red raspberry and mossy, appley green. The patterns are a delight, fresh and modern yet featuring classic roses in a country style. For interest, I have added some batiks in green and claret and some pretty tiny polka dots.

This quilt measures a handy 40" x 54". It makes a perfect sofa or chair throw to cosy up with in your sitting room come Autumn time, adding welcome colour and impact to plainer sofas. It is also the ideal size to top a single bed, perfect for little-ones who struggle to manage a big heavy quilt on their own. Use your tape measure to give you a perfect view of the size, should you like.

The top has been meticulously pieced from 5" cotton squares and has been quilted in a criss-cross fashion. The batting is a top quality cotton blend making your quilt easy to wash and dry, (wash at 30 degrees and line dry). Minimal shrinkage may occur giving you that highly-coveted vintage look but you can use a cool iron to restore the crisp feel if you prefer.

The welcome surprise with this quilt is the divine backing fabric, a sumptuous feast of red roses on white (designed by Tanya Whelan). You could display this side for a change, a little like an eiderdown. The binding is a fresh red stripe (also by Tanya Whelan) which has been traditionally hand sewn to the reverse for a real professional finish.

Hanky Panky Quilt

I have beavered away to offer you this beautiful and special patchwork quilt. The top has been lovingly pieced from stunning vintage-style handkerchief panels which have been set on point with pretty log cabin panels in co-ordinating fabrics with ditsy floral patterns. The colours are drawn from a gorgeous palette of pastel blues, pinks and greens.

This quilt measures a large 69" x 42" (you could get out your tape measure to assess the size accurately if needs be). It would look superb as a throw over the foot of a bed or over a sofa and really super in an outdoor setting, maybe in a summer house or on a bench? It has been made from premium quality cotton fabrics and has cosy pink cotton flannelette backing. The quilt has been quilted using a pretty variegated pink thread.

The batting is a top quality cotton blend making your quilt easy to wash and dry, (wash at 30 degrees and line dry). Minimal shrinkage may occur giving you that highly-coveted vintage look but you can use a cool iron to restore the crisp feel if you prefer.

I have bound this quilt in the traditional way, using blue gingham for a country feel, and hand sewing all 220" of it to the reverse by hand for a true quality finish. The finishing touch is a vintage embroidered name panel to the back corner of the quilt.

Saddle Up! Quilt

Here is a very special quilt for a very special little person. I have collected these wonderful vintage-style wild west prints for a few years now and finally brought them all together in one utterly unique quilt!

The top is pieced in a classic style from cotton fabric, and what a selection of fabric there is! One lucky little person is going to love studying all those patterns and pictures at bedtime. The batting is a top quality cotton blend with a mid loft, the backing is super cosy white cotton flanelette for maximum snuggliness. The quilt has been meticulously quilted "in the ditch" (outlining each block). The quilt has been bound with a lovely bright red polka dot cotton and all 220" have been hand sewn to the reverse as a quality traditional quilt deserves. There is a "Saddle Up" name patch to the reverse.

This is a large quilt, sized approximately 50" x 60" which will generously cover the top of a single bed and drape a little way down the sides or top a double bed. It's big enough to be really cosy but not so huge or heavy that a little person can't handle it themselves. This quilt is easy to care for and can be machine washed at 30-40 degrees and line dried. The quilt will look fabulous once washed, a little crinkly just like vintage quilts, but you can use a cool iron to restore a crisp look if you prefer. I think my quilts get better the more they are loved and used.

Country Calico Quilt

This stunning quilt is a desirable blend of old and new, perfectly mixing both vintage and modern fabrics in classic country-style shades of red and blue.

It is a large quilt, suitable for the top of a king size bed or covering most generously a single/double bed or acting as a super throw in the garden to keep the chill off on Summer evenings. Quilt are super versatile: pair them with a top sheet in the Summer or layer them over your duvet and blankets in the Winter to ensure a great night's sleep.

This quilt measures approximately 54" x 66", the top is pieced entirely from cotton, the batting is high quality cotton blend with a mid-loft (70/30%) making it easy to care for and the backing is a lovely smooth cotton with a gorgeous ditsy floral pattern. The quilt has been quilted with straight lines either sides of the seams which give a lovely vintage-style traditional look. The quilt has been bound with a little red polka dot cotton and all 240" of it have been hand sewn to the reverse for a true professional finish. Your quilt is easy to care for. It can be washed at 30 or 40 degrees in the machine then line dried. This stunning patchwork quilt has been crafted from the gorgeous "Delilah" range of fabrics by well known designer, Tanya Whelan. They are a beautiful medley of rose and floral print cottons in delicious shades of pink, red, green and blue with added polka dots and stripes. Very fresh and pretty, just perfect. The design is a lovely hotchpotch of differently sized patches for an eclectic, vintage-style look and has been well quilted in a criss-cross pattern.

Liberty Belle Quilt

This stunning quilt is crafted from the infamous English Liberty tana lawn fabrics, the most beautiful, luxurious and silky cotton you will find. It is made in the "brick path" design, a simple pattern to allow the gorgeous fabrics to shine.

It is backed with pure white tana lawn with a feature panel of patterned Liberty tana lawn fabrics and there is a HenHouse label. This quilt measures approximately 40" and 52", making it ideal as a throw, a children's cot quilt or play mat, even an eye catching wall hanging. Equally it could sit atop the foot of a bed (please get your tape measure out to visualise the size correctly should you wish).

This quilt has cosy cotton blend batting inside and has been simply quilted in parallel lines inside the bricks (this is a "mid loft" batting: not too thin, not too fluffy). Vintage Patchwork Hottie

Pretty and practical, this microwaveable hottie pad has been treated to a wonderful cover patchworked from stunning original vintage fabrics in little 2.5" squares, the fabrics dating mainly from the 1940s and '50s. It is backed with pure cotton quilt batting and has been machine quilted in a diagonal pattern.

The reverse of the hottie cover is made from a tiny pink and white gingham cotton with a HenHouse label. The cover has pink bias binding trim to the front edges and a loop with a pretty vintage button to close.

Instructions for heating the hottie pad in the microwave are printed on the hottie pouch itself and are VERY SIMPLE (typically, you place the pouch in the microwave and heat for approximately 2 minutes depending on the power/wattage of the microwave.) They are a much cleaner, easier and safer alternative to hot water bottles, dispensing with the need for boiling water and smelly, perishable rubber! They should last for years (I've had mine for over 10 years!) although replacements can be bought for approximately £6.00 so this is an item to last a lifetime!

Ring of Posies Cushion

I was inspired by a beautiful piece of vintage embroidery (probably dating to the 1930s) to create these divine and completely unique circular cushions. A real labour of love but so worth the results!

I have taken a lot of time to piece together a myriad of beautiful floral cottons (over twenty different ones!) to create a gathered backdrop to the gorgeous embroidered centrepiece.

The reverse closes with a pretty gingham ribbon drawstring.

This gorgeous cushion comes complete with a very generous new feather filled 18" circular cushion pad. I have but two of these for sale so they can certainly be described as very special and unique.

Feedsack Heart Cushions

Make your bed look this snuggly and gorgeous with some unique HenHouse cushions!

I was inspired to craft these beauties from my growing stash of absolutely gorgeous vintage feedsack fabrics. These pure cotton fabrics were popular in the 1930s and have the most lovely patterns and glowing colours. I have paired them with simple, fresh white cotton to show the feedsacks off to their best advantage. Each cushion is quilted with a pure cotton batting layer and has been hand quilted with Perle thread.

Each cushion comes complete with a new quality feather cushion pad. The reverse of each cushion is crafted from white cotton fabric with a feature fabric strip across the opening which closes with real mother of pearl buttons.

Jingle Dangle Christmas Quilt

All the family can get together and snuggle under this very special Christmas themed quilt. It is crafted in a traditional square block design with feature star-pieced blocks interspersed. The fabrics I have used are a gorgeous range of bright and fresh cottons in delicious colours. Christmas fabrics can be so old fashioned but not these ones, which perfectly blend Christmassy patterns with vibrant colours in a really fresh and eye-catching way.

This special quilt measures a generous 48" x 68". It makes a very large sofa throw and is large enough to fit across the foot of a king size bed (or covers the top of a single bed entirely). It is backed with gorgeously soft and tactile red cotton flanelette and it has the finest quality "Dream Puff" batting inside which has a high loft making it super cosy but is very light weight, even warmer than wool. It really does give a quilt a gorgeous snuggly feel.

This lovely quilt is also easy to care for and can be machine washed on a gentle 40 degree cycle then line dried. A COOL iron may be used (so as not to flatten that delicious batting in the middle).

The quilt had been quilted both "in the ditch" (outlining each block) and also in a diagonal star pattern through each and every block.

The finishing touches are some jolly red dotty binding, all 232" have been traditionally hand sewn for a truly professional finish, and of course, a signature HenHouse patch on the reverse.

Baby Cot Quilt

A wonderful gift for a new baby, is this traditionally handmade quilt largely made in beautiful Cath Kidston cottons bearing images of Stanley the dog, planes, trains, boats and cowboys, a true heirloom piece to be loved and treasured.

This quilt is made entirely from new cotton fabrics. The batting inside the quilt is the highest quality pure cotton without any glues and the quilt is backed with a snuggly blue flanelette and bound with bright red polka dots, keeping everything pure and natural for baby. The quilt is washable on a normal machine cycle and preferably line dried. Minimal shrinkage may normally be expected on first washing which will give that pretty crinkled look so desirable in vintage quilts.

The quilt measures approximately 40" x 48" to fit a standard sized baby cot.

Another generous 20" square cushion which took a gorgeous piece of vintage fabric adorned with sprays of tulips as its starting point. This has been combined with a lovely vintage hand-embroidered panel and more vintage cottons (with a bit of modern mixed in for a fresh touch). A string of hand-sewn English paper-pieced hexagons completes this pretty cushion. Perfectly pretty.

Sleepy Owls

Can you possibly resist these cute little owly faces? Each owl is crafted from cosy and cuddly flanelette (certainly brings back warm memories) with their eyes and tummy patch in pretty florals and spots and feet and beaks in toning felts. Their eye lashes are hand stitched.

Generously stuffed with new fluffy polyester fibrefill (conforms to current safety regulations), their appliqued patches are securely blanket or satin stitched.

Sleepy owl measures approximately 9" tall and 10" wide, perfect for little (and grown up!) arms to cuddle (just ask the Muchkin!)

Show someone you care by sending a beautiful one-of-a-kind gift card. I have taken vintage fabrics as inspiration to create pretty patterned papers which are then combined with real lace, vintage cigarette cards and seed packet labels and interesting trimmings.

Each card measures 7" x 5" and comes with a white envelope, in a cellophane bag. Cards are blank inside. Cards shall be posted in proper card- backed "Do not bend" envelopes.

Vintage Fabric Lavender Sacks

These delightfully fragrant sacks are filled with lovely lavender and are made from the most beautiful vintage European fabrics (dating to approximately 1930-'40).

The sets of three sacks are a combination of the vintage fabrics and delightful dotty modern fabrics on the reverse. Each stack is bundled together with pretty velvet ribbon and finished with some dinky paper flowers.

The individual lavender sacks have the vintage flowery fabric on both sides and are finished with a dinky bow and pretty button.

Sack stacks are priced at £8 each and individual sacks are priced at £3.50 each plus P&P.

Vintage Patchwork Covered Hangers

Make a feature of your most special outfit whilst making sure it's properly cared for, by treating your glamorous frocks to a beautiful covered hanger. This is a hanger you will not want to lock away in your wardrobe!

The vintage fabrics are a covetable combination of French, German and of course, English and date as far back as 1930. There's a bit of pretty vintage embroidered linen added into the mix and a little strip of a modern polka dotty fabric to give it a fresh twist. A colourful satin ricrac edging, velvet bow and some divinely pretty vintage lace are the finishing touches.

Patchwork Notebook Covers

Here I have used my most lovely, special and original vintage fabrics (mainly from the 1940s-'50s) combined with some vintage embroidered linen and crafted these "one of a kind" notebook covers. They are completely lined with white cotton. A hardbacked notebook is included and the clever bit is that the cover is entirely removable so that once you have finished writing in the last page of your book, you can slip it out and pop in another (standard stationers' A5 and A6 size).

Spring Birdies

A clutch of cute-as-a-button birdies have hatched and are hoping to find a new home in your nest! They are crafted from hand-dyed vintage fabric blankets, gorgeous vintage fabrics and vintage buttons, trims and lace with a flourish of hand embroidery. They have a smattering of scrumptious smelling lavender inside and a vintage fabric loop to hang them.

They measure approximately 8" wide by 6" high (not including the hanging loop).

Vintage Fabric Wheat Sacks

These pretty and practical wheat sacks are crafted from entirely vintage fabrics, either floral cottons from the 1940's or vintage embroidered linen. Each sack is a beautiful fusion of 9 patchworked squares with a velvet hanging loop in one corner (in case you want to hang it on a wardrobe or door knob or from a bed post) with a vintage button to top it off. The reverse features a single panel of co-ordinating vintage fabric.

Gorgeous as the exterior is, the clever bit is the interior which is filled with beautifully fragrant lavender buds and organic wheat. You can simply pop your wheat sack in the microwave for one minute and it will heat up beautifully, releasing its wonderful fragrance. Place it on your aches and pains or pop it on your pillow for a night of sweet dreams. My cats are rather partial to mine!

Christmas Stockings

Complete your festive fireplace and make sure Father Christmas has somewhere to leave your goodies on Christmas eve with a gorgeous stocking. I have used a vintage felted and hand dyed woollen blanket to make the body of the stocking. The top cuff (on the front side) features a lovely patchworked selection of vintage 1940s and vintage-inspired fabrics topped with some unusual Christmas themed buttons and trimmed with vintage ribbon. The toe also features one of the beautiful fabrics and there is a guiding star (to guide all those presents in!) on the front. Finally, there is a secure spotty hanging loop at the top.

Measures approximately 15" long (excluding loop) and 12" at widest point (heel to toe).

Vintage Lavender Sacks

Perfectly formed, dinky sacks filled with divinely fragrant lavender enclosed in beautiful vintage, and vintage inspired, fabrics and lace. Scent your drawers or your linen cupboard, put one next to you on the pillow to lull you to sleep. They also look gorgeous tied with pretty ribbon into little sets. Some are plain, some feature little messages such as "with love", "special mum", "special friend", "Happy Birthday", "thank you" and similar. They make a perfect gift for someone close, either on a special occasion or just to let them know how much they are appreciated, and great thank you gifts at a reasonable price. Vintage Teacup Candles

I have amassed quite a collection of beautiful vintage teacups, I also love candles, especially those which are beautifully scented with fragrance oil, so I have combined the two for the ultimate candle for vintage lovers. These look so pretty (and dare I say romantic!) and fit perfectly in the vintage interior where modern candles might look out of place. The cups take on a lovely translucent effect when the candle is burning. Once the candle has burnt out, you are still left with a beautiful teacup which you can use for your Earl Grey.

Each candle comes in a pretty ivory box with pink tissue and a box of matches covered in lovely fabric (not necessarily the box shown in the photo but certainly one equally as beautiful and with fabric chosen to compliment the design on the china).

Cute corduroy owls are looking for a new nest to share! They have felt and 100% cotton details to their faces and wings, attached with attractive blanket stitching, and button eyes. They are stuffed with new (fire retardant) polyfill and each comes with their own little name tag. The Munchkin and I designed the owls with a distinct division between the shape of the head and body which makes them perfect for putting your arms round and cuddling!

Not for children under 3 years old due to the buttons but it does seem that they are rather popular with grown-ups!

Each owl measures approximately 12" high (13" including ears) and approximately 11" across their chubby tummy!

Dreamcatchers

The Ojibwa Indians believed you could catch bad dreams in the centre of the dreamcatcher which would then disappear with morning light. The good dreams would trickle down the feathers and beads onto the slumbering person below.

Each of my dreamcatchers is different but all are crafted from cotton fabrics, vintage Honiton lace and often, lovely vintage buttons, with plenty of gorgeous beads, Swarovski crystals and feathers for good measure! Look carefully to choose your favourite...

Please note: These dreamcatchers are very beautiful but very delicate and fragile. They are not sold as a toy as there are lots of enticingly lovely glittery bits which could be pulled off by little fingers and end up where they're really not intended to be! Hang them away from children's reach please!

Crochet Corsages

Jazz up your jacket, your coat, your cardi, your hat, your scarf, it's up to you, with a hand crocheted corsage. All are made from premium yarns. They each have interesting details at their centres, the majority of which are vintage and have been found on my jaunts round the English countryside.

Each corsage has a metal swivel-closure brooch pin on the back. Dimensions vary, please see individual corsage for details. Some yarns are specifically dry clean only, which is noted in the details for that individual corsage, but in any instance, I would only recommend gentle warm hand washing should you need to wash your corsage.

ONE

Crocheted in pure new wool, the 3 layers of outer petals are two-tone shades of deep pinky/burgundy. At the centre is a lovely vintage purpley glass button. Approximately 3.5" across.

TWO

A large corsage crafted from a gorgeous shade of purpley/blue mohair yarn with 3 layers of petals. The centre is crocheted in pure new wool and has a pretty flower-shaped button. Approximately 4" across.

THREE

Pretty two-layer corsage crocheted in a lilac wool blend yarn, the outer petals being edged with mohair in a slightly deeper shade. Centre crafted from ivory pure new wool with a spotty button on top. Approximately 3.5" across.

FOUR

Gorgeous, luxurious gold silk yarn makes up three layers of petals with a contrasting black cotton yarn centre, topped with a glorious vintage pearlescent glass button. Dry clean only. Approximately 3.5" across.

FIVE

A fun, eye-catching corsage with two layers of petals crocheted in baby pink chenille yarn. There is an ivory pure new wool centre topped with a double layer of aqua and pink buttons (the pink button is spotty) and the finishing touch of some ribbon in spotty aqua shades. Approximately 3.5" across (plus ribbon).

SIX

Gorgeous fluffy and luxurious Angora yarn in a beautiful shade of bright pink has been used to craft this divine corsage. It has 3 layers of petals and the centre is adorned with a multitude of lovely pearlescent beads. Sadly, the photo does not do it justice!

SEVEN

Crocheted in pure new wool in a lovely shade of soft pink, the primrose yellow centre is adorned with tiny pearly beads and the finishing touch is a pair of pretty green leaves (crocheted in a lovely alpaca silk blend yarn) which really makes the pink "pop"!
